Eagle Air - A Historical Tour of Westman Islands

Experience Iceland's southernmost part, the Westman Islands, in a friendly and personal way. You'll take a short scenic flight in the morning from Reykjavik airport to Heimaey Island where a local guide will be waiting for you.
You'll get to explore the whole island and see, among other things, Icelandic sheep, horses and not least puffins, as the Westmann Islands are home to the world's largest puffin colony! Hot spots in Heimaey, such as Herjólfsdalur and Stórhöfði (the windiest place in Europe) will be visited and you will get to hear some amazing stories about the beautiful island, while gaining some insight into the islanders’ culture. In 1973 a volcanic eruption started in the middle of Heimaey's town and every islander had to be evacuated immediately from the island.  You'll visit the volcanic crater Eldfell where it all started and learn about these catastrophic events.  Also on the agenda is a visit to the Sæheimar Aquarium where, if you're lucky you may get to hold and pet the live puffin Tóti (entrance not included).   Some free time to explore the typical fishing town or go on a boat trip before heading back to Reykjavík after an eventful day.
